The roots of the organisation were laid to ground in 1986 by volunteers and their involvement today is as essential now as it was then.
Volunteers are essential to the work that we do in supporting and improving the lives of people living with and affected by HIV; challenging stigma, through campaigning and lobbying; and preventing the increase in HIV infection through training, education and raising awareness.
We have a variety of volunteering roles which are flexible, interesting and rewarding and we provide all our volunteers with quality training and ongoing support and supervision to ensure they are happy with and confident in their volunteering activities.
How to apply
If you decide you would like to volunteer with us we will invite you to:
- Complete an application form
- Attend an informal interview so we can find out more about you, your skills, experience and interests and give you the opportunity to find out more about us as an organisation and explore the volunteering opportunities of interest to you.
- We then carry out reference checks and if appropriate to the volunteering role Access NI checks.
- Attend volunteer induction which is an important part of the volunteer recruitment process, the purpose of which is to provide you with a warm welcome to the organisation, meet staff members and other volunteers, and go through the policies and procedures that are relevant to your role and give you some HIV awareness training.
